Mabon Blessings - The Hare and the Moon

Mabon Blessings

As we now approach Autumn, this weekend we celebrate the celebration of Mabon, a time to give thanks to the second harvest.

In modern times it is easy to forget how lucky we are to just pop into the supermarket and pick up ingredients for dinner. In pastimes we heavily relied on the seasons and environment for our survival, namely to grow crops for food. And so whilst nowadays the word harvest may not mean as much personally unless you are a keen gardener with a lovely allotment, it is still a time we can celebrate and welcome in the change of seasons.

Named from a Welsh God, the name Mabon translates to "Son of Mother" and is a time to let go of what no longer serves us, just like the trees loose their leaves at this time we can shed all that we no longer need.

It is also a lovely time to take pause and reflect at all we have achieved this year so far and give thanks to the amazing Earth which supports us.

Thinking of setting up or changing your Alter space? Here are a few ideas to get you started..

So you've decorated your home and space for this season, is there anything else you can do to celebrate the welcoming in of Autumn and Mabon? We suggest now is a good time to start journaling practice or find time in your schedule to slow down for a moment each day, perhaps introducing some meditation.
